Crane rental

Crane rental in Romania — 50 t and 80 t mobile cranes

Bernar Prod rents 50 and 80 tonne mobile cranes in Suceava county, northern Romania, with a certified operator included. We are based at Dornești, a few kilometres from the Ukrainian border, and also operate a dual-gauge rail terminal — so cargo can be lifted straight off a wagon.

What we operate

Two nominal capacities: 50 tonnes and 80 tonnes. Both are truck-mounted mobile cranes, so they travel to site on public roads under their own power rather than arriving on a low-loader.

An ISCIR-certified operator is always included. ISCIR is the Romanian technical inspection authority for lifting equipment; in Romania a crane and its operator both fall under its supervision, and working without that authorisation is neither legal nor insurable.

What the tonnage actually means

The rated capacity applies at the minimum working radius, with full counterweight and outriggers fully extended. It is a catalogue figure, not a guarantee that holds in every configuration.

Capacity falls as the load moves away from the crane. At a long radius, an 80 tonne machine may have a usable capacity of a few tonnes. That is not a fault — it is the overturning moment increasing with distance.

So a weight alone cannot answer the question. We need the radius as well: the horizontal distance from the crane to where the load is set down. With both figures we can check the load chart and tell you which machine does the job.

Typical work

  • Steel structures — beams, trusses, portal frames for halls and industrial buildings.
  • Precast concrete — panels, slabs, structural elements.
  • Industrial assembly — positioning machinery on foundations, relocating production lines.
  • Equipment handling — unloading heavy machines from trailers.
  • Roof-mounted plant — air handling units, chillers, tanks.
  • Rail transshipment — lifting heavy and oversized cargo between wagon, truck and wagon in our own terminal.

The terminal makes the difference

Most crane companies rent you a machine. We also operate a rail terminal at Dornești with tracks on both gauges — 1435 mm European standard and 1520 mm broad gauge used in Ukraine and the CIS.

For freight forwarders that combination matters. A heavy piece arriving from Ukraine on a broad-gauge wagon can be lifted off, stored, and loaded onto a European wagon or a truck without leaving the yard and without coordinating three suppliers.

The technical background is in our guide to 1435 mm vs 1520 mm gauge.

What to send us for a quote

  • Weight of the load, as precisely as you can — and say if it is an estimate.
  • Working radius: horizontal distance from the crane to the set-down point.
  • Lift height.
  • Site address and a description of access — road width, gate, room to set up.
  • Ground conditions where the outriggers would stand.
  • Date and expected duration.
  • Overhead obstructions: power lines, buildings, trees.

We do not publish rates. Price depends on capacity, duration, mobilisation distance from Dornești, radius, ground conditions and permits — send the details and you get a real figure rather than a range that fits nobody.

Frequently asked questions

Frequently asked questions

Is the operator included?

Yes, always. We do not rent lifting equipment without a certified operator.

Do I need the 50 t or the 80 t crane?

It depends on the weight and the radius. Send both figures plus the lift height and we will check the load chart for you.

Can an 80 t crane lift 80 tonnes?

Only at minimum radius with full counterweight. Capacity drops significantly as the load moves further out.

Do you work with foreign companies?

Yes, particularly forwarders moving cargo between Ukraine and the EU. We correspond in Romanian, English and Ukrainian.

How far do you travel?

Across Suceava county as standard, and further on request. Distance affects mobilisation cost, so for longer trips it pays to group several lifts into one day.
