Lifting an overturned or stuck truck in northern Romania
If a truck has overturned or slid off the road in northern Romania, we have 50 and 80 tonne mobile cranes at Dornești, about 20 km from the Siret border crossing with Ukraine. Call first — we will tell you honestly whether we can come and how soon.
First minutes, in order
Before you call us, other things come first:
- People — get everyone clear of the vehicle, warn oncoming traffic, hazards on, triangles out.
- 112 if anyone is hurt, or if fuel or dangerous goods are leaking.
- Police — you need the report, or the insurance claim will not go anywhere.
- Your insurer and dispatcher — tell them immediately.
- Photographs of the vehicle and the load before anything is moved.
Only once the scene is safe and the report is done does lifting make sense. Moving the vehicle beforehand can damage your claim.
What we can do
We operate 50 and 80 tonne mobile cranes with certified operators at Dornești. In practice that covers:
- Righting an overturned tractor unit or trailer.
- Pulling a vehicle out of a ditch or soft ground.
- Unloading the cargo first where the vehicle is too heavily laden to lift as it stands.
- Transferring the load onto another truck if the vehicle cannot continue.
- Lifting a damaged vehicle onto a recovery platform.
If the cargo cannot leave straight away, we have storage a few kilometres from the roadside.
What we are not
Worth saying plainly so you do not lose time: we are not a towing company and we do not keep a standby recovery crew. We cannot promise an arrival time and we do not run a dedicated 24-hour dispatch desk.
What we do have is the cranes, the operators and the position — 20 km from Siret, 15 from Rădăuți. When you call, we tell you whether a machine is free and how soon it could reach you. If we cannot help, we say so immediately so you can look elsewhere.
We do not do long-distance towing or repairs.
What to tell us on the phone
- Exactly where — kilometre marker, village, direction of travel.
- Which vehicle: tractor unit, trailer, or both.
- Position: on its side, in a ditch, bogged down, off the carriageway.
- The cargo: what it is, roughly what it weighs, whether it has shifted.
- Whether any of it is dangerous goods — that changes the whole procedure.
- Access: can a heavy machine get close from the roadside?

Are you available around the clock?
We do not keep a standby crew, but the phone is answered outside working hours for emergencies. Call and we will tell you straight away whether we can come.
What does it cost?
It depends on the machine, the duration and the complexity. For this kind of job it is settled on site, once the situation is visible.
Do you deal with insurers?
We issue the paperwork for the intervention, which you submit with your claim. The relationship with the insurer stays yours.
Can you unload the cargo if the vehicle is too heavy?
Yes, and that is usually the sequence: unload first, then lift the vehicle.
